Smithville is a village in Wayne County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,338 at the time of the 2020 census. The village derives its name from Thomas Smith, a pioneer settler.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,252 people, 541 households, and 371 families living in the village. The population density was . There were 573 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the village was 97.8% White, 0.9% African American, 0.4% Native American, 0.6% Asian, and 0.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 541 households, of which 28.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.1% were married couples living together, 12.9% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 31.4% were non-families. 28.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
