Schulter is a town in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 422 at the time of the 2020 census.

History

Located approximately eight miles south of Okmulgee and six miles north of Henryetta in Okmulgee County, just off U.S. routes 75 and 62, the original name of the town may have been Winchell. The town was added along the route of the St. Louis, Oklahoma and Southern Railway (later the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway, or Frisco) built between Okmulgee and Henryetta in 1900.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land.

2020 census

As of the 2020 census, Schulter had a population of 422. The median age was 45.8 years. 20.4% of residents were under the age of 18 and 24.6% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 96.3 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 88.8 males age 18 and over.

There were 170 households in Schulter, of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 45.3% were married-couple households, 18.8% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 31.8% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 31.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
