Schneider ( ) is a town in West Creek Township, Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 269 at the 2020 census. It is the smallest incorporated town in Lake County by population. It sits in the Kankakee River Valley.
History
The Schneider post office opened in 1902.

As of the census of 2010, there were 277 people, 98 households, and 72 families living in the town. The population density was . There were 113 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the town was 97.1% White, 1.1% Native American, 1.1% Asian, and 0.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.5% of the population.
There were 98 households, of which 37.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.1% were married couples living together, 13.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 7.1% had a male householder with no wife present, and 26.5% were non-families. 24.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
