Geography
The community is in southwestern Middlesex County and occupies south-central Plainsboro Township. The CDP is bordered to the east by Princeton Meadows. The borough of Princeton is to the west, Cranbury is the same distance to the east, and New Brunswick, the Middlesex county seat, is to the northeast.

2020 census
As of the 2020 census, Plainsboro Center had a population of 2,760. The median age was 35.4 years. 20.4% of residents were under the age of 18 and 13.2% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 96.0 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 92.1 males age 18 and over.
