Pelion is a town in Lexington County, South Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, Pelion had a population of 631. It is part of the Columbia, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area .

History

A post office called Pelion has been in operation since 1900. The town was named after Mt Pelion in Greece.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.6&nbsp;square miles (9.2&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>), of which 3.5&nbsp;square miles (9.0&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>) is land and 0.1&nbsp;square mile (0.3&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>) (2.81%) is water.

Pelion has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa) with long, hot summers and short, mild winters.
