Oregon is a city and county seat of Holt County, Missouri, United States. The population was 837 at the 2020 census. It is the oldest town extant in Holt County. and under that name was platted in June 1841; it was replatted on October 21, 1841 as Oregon. A post office called Oregon has been in operation since 1843. It was a significant trading post in the Platte Purchase region of Missouri for the first couple of decades of existence. In 1873, the Northwest Missouri Normal School was built in Oregon, at a cost of $22,000
Transportation
Oregon is located on US 59 and has access to I-29 via both US 59 north and south. The eastern terminus of Route 111 is in Oregon.
Hydrology
Oregon is situated about 4.5 miles northeast of the Missouri River and is only 2 miles from the bluffs of the Missouri River Valley. The streams of Davis Branch and Mill Creek flank both sides of the town; Oregon sits relatively high on the hills between them.

2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 857 people, 356 households, and 235 families living in the city. The population density was . There were 401 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the city was 98.4% White, 0.5% Native American, 0.5% Asian, and 0.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.2% of the population.
There were 356 households, of which 27.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.0% were non-families. 29.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 17.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.79.
The median age in the city was 45.4 years. 19.7% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 22.7% were from 25 to 44; 28.4% were from 45 to 64; and 21.9% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 48.5% male and 51.5% female.
2000 census
As of the census Oregon's team consisted of a total of 10 players. It practiced on an outdoor court and occasionally inside the Methodist Church.
