Ludwigite is a magnesium-iron borate mineral: Mg<sub>2</sub>FeBO<sub>5</sub>.
Ludwigite typically occurs in magnesian iron skarn and other high temperature contact metamorphic deposits. It occurs in association with magnetite, forsterite, clinohumite and the borates vonsenite and szaibelyite.
