Lucien Lux (born 13 September 1956 in Troisvierges) is a politician and trade unionist from Luxembourg. He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies representing the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party from 1989 to 2013. He served as a minister in the first government of prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker, from 2004 until 2009. He later retired from the chamber and was appointed to the Council of State.
In 2023, Lux received the council's first reprimand in its history for breaching privacy policies. The next year in 2024, Luxembourgish authorities started an investigation into Lux for alleged corruption.
Career
He worked for Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, and in 1978 joined the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (OGB-L) as union secretary.
He was elected as Secretary-General of the LSAP in 2002, putting him in charge of the 2004 election. while the LSAP dislodged the Democratic Party from the governing coalition. As a result, Lux was appointed Minister for the Environment and Minister for Transport after the election, posts which he held until 23 July 2009, when they were abolished. In the 2009 election, Lux was returned to the Chamber, but only fifth amongst LSAP candidates. He did not contest the 2013 election and instead joined the Council of State, the country's de facto upper legislative body, in 2014.
In August 2023, Lux was accused of sharing confidential information of the Council of State with property tycoon Flavio Becca, a business partner of his who had a vested interest in the council's proposed regulations of MRIs and other diagnostics technology in private medical practices.
