LaPaz is a town in North Township, Marshall County, Indiana, United States. The population was 475 at the 2020 census,

History

The town was founded in 1873 and was named for La Paz, Bolivia. At the time of its founding, it was served by the Chicago branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, now CSX. The B&O named a coach La Paz in 1949 to honor the town.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 561 people, 216 households, and 144 families living in the town. The population density was . There were 251 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the town was 97.9% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.3% of the population.

There were 216 households, of which 35.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.3% were married couples living together, 13.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 33.3% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.24.

The median age in the town was 35.1 years. 29.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23.7% were from 25 to 44; 26.9% were from 45 to 64; and 12.3% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the town was 47.1% male and 52.9% female.
