Robert Jeremy Hugh Lascelles (born 14 February 1955) is a British music industry executive and occasional musician. He is a second cousin of King Charles III.

Life

Lascelles is the third child of George Lascelles, 7th Earl of Harewood, and Marion Stein, who later married Jeremy Thorpe. He is a great-grandson of King George V. He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster in London. He then became a tour manager in the 1970s for bands including Curved Air before moving to Virgin in 1979. He rose to Head of A&R under Richard Branson at Virgin where he worked for 13 years with acts such as Phil Collins, Culture Club, the Human League, and Simple Minds He is known for his ambivalence to being related to the royal family (his godmother was Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother).

Lascelles stood down as CEO of Chrysalis Music in March 2012 and was subsequently named as a visiting professor at Leeds College of Music (LCoM), a role which commenced in October 2012.

As Chief Executive of the Music Division and later CEO of Chrysalis, he signed or oversaw the signings of acts including Portishead, David Gray, OutKast, Ray LaMontagne, Feeder, Cee-Lo Green, Laura Marling, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Rumer. Lascelles was elected to the council of the BPI in 2003 and from 2004-2007 he served on the board of AIM as Vice-Chairman. He was shortlisted for the Orange Business Leader of the Year award in 2010. In 2014 he started Blue Raincoat Music, and presently heads up the company.

  • Cleo Lascelles (b. 2017) is the eldest child of Thomas Lascelles and Laura Bailey.
  • Celeste Lascelles (b. 7 October 2020) is the youngest child of Thomas Lascelles and Laura Bailey.
  • Ellen Mary Lascelles (b. 17 December 1984, Hammersmith, London). She is the eldest daughter of Jeremy Lascelles and Julie Bayliss. She was the partner of Michael Hermans and had a son and a daughter with him. But they weren't married and their children and their descendants are ineligible to have a claim to the British throne. Ellen Lascelles would later marry Channtel 'Chan' McPherson in 2024 as the first same-sex marriage in the extended british royal family.
  • Jack Marley Hermans (b. 21 March 2016, Australia). He is the eldest illegitimate son of Ellen Lascelles and Michael Hermans. He is considered illegitimate as his parents weren't married at his time of birth.
  • Penny Moon Hermans (b. 1 March 2018, Australia). She is the youngest illegitimate child of Ellen Lascelles and Michael Hermans. She is considered illegitimate as her parents weren't married at her time of birth.
  • Amy Rose Lascelles (b. 26 June 1986, Hammersmith, London). She was the third and last child of Jeremy Lascelles and his first wife, Julie Bayliss. She and her partner, Matthew Bolton (born 1990) have two children.
  • Marlow Fox Bolton (b. 20 July 2020). He is the elder child of Amy Lascelles and Matthew Bolton. He is considered illegitimate as his parents were not married at the time of his birth.
  • Bailey Blue Bolton (b. 23 October 2023) She is the younger child of Amy Lascelles and Matthew Bolton.

On 7 January 1999 in Edinburgh he married Catherine Isobel Bell (born 25 April 1972 in Lewisham, London). They have had one daughter.

  • Tallulah Grace Lascelles (b. 1 December 2005, Hammersmith, London). She is the only child of Jeremy Lascelles and his second wife, Catherine Bell.
