As of the 2020 census, Harrisburg had a population of 3,652. The median age was 37.0 years. 25.3% of residents were under the age of 18 and 12.6% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 96.9 males age 18 and over.

There were 1,320 households in Harrisburg, of which 37.0% had children under the age of 18 living in them. The racial makeup of the city was 91.3% White, 0.5% African American, 1.0% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 3.2% from other races, and 3.4% from two or more races.
