Edmore is a village in Montcalm County of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,210 at the 2020 census.
The Edmore post office, with ZIP code 48829, serves most of Home Township as well as portions of Belvidere Township to the west, Douglass Township to the southwest, Day Township to the south, Ferris Township to the southeast, and Rolland Township to the north in Isabella County.
Edmore is close to the site of the finds of the forged Scotford-Soper-Savage relics.
The Edmore meteorite was discovered on a nearby farm in 2018. It had reportedly fallen to earth in the 1930s on another farm and had been used as a doorstop since then.
Geography
Edmore is in northeastern Montcalm County, in the south-central part of Home Township. It is by road north-northeast of Stanton, the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , all land.
2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,201 people, 512 households, and 324 families residing in the village. The population density was . There were 565 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the village was 94.9% White, 0.5% African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.9% from other races, and 3.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.1% of the population.
There were 512 households, of which 32.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.9% were married couples living together, 18.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.6% had a male householder with no wife present, and 36.7% were non-families. 31.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.85.
The median age in the village was 38.8 years. 24.6% of residents were under the age of 18; 10.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23.6% were from 25 to 44; 25.1% were from 45 to 64; and 16.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 46.0% male and 54.0% female.
