Chokio ( ) is a city in Stevens County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 404 at the 2020 census.
History
"Chokio" derives from a Lakota word meaning "the middle". It was a midway stop on the Pony Express route between Morris and Graceville. Other accounts say it was the halfway point on the old Wadsworth Trail, which ran between St. Cloud and Sisseton, South Dakota.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has an area of , all land. Minnesota State Highway 28 serves as a main route in the community.
