Chester is a town in Warren County, New York, United States. It is part of the Glens Falls metropolitan area. The population was 3,086 at the 2020 census. The town contains the communities of Chestertown and Pottersville.

The town of Chester is on the county's northern border.

History

Settlement began around 1794.

The town of Chester was formed from part of the Town of Thurman in 1799.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and (3.03%) is water.

Chester is situated in the Adirondack Park, and the northern town line is the border of Essex County, New York.
