Cantemir () is a city in Moldova. It is located in the south-western part of the country, in the old Bessarabia region. It is the largest city and administrative center of Cantemir District. Spread across an area of , the town had a population of 3,429 inhabitants in 2014.

Cantemir is located in Cantemir District of Moldova. It is located in the southeastern Europe and in the north-western part of Moldova. Spread across an area of , it is one of 29 sub-divisions (city of Cantemir and 28 communes) in the district. It is part of the Bessarabia region.

Demographics

According to the 2014 census, the population of Cantemir was 3,429 inhabitants, a decrease compared to the previous census in 2004, when 3,872 inhabitants were registered. Of these, 1,631 were men and 1,798 were women. The population is further projected to reduce over the next few decades. The city had a Human Development Index of 0.699 in 2015.
