Arncliffe railway station is a heritage-listed suburban railway station located on the South Coast line, serving the Sydney suburb of Arncliffe. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line services. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

History

Arncliffe station opened on 15 October 1884 on the same date as the South Coast line from Redfern to Hurstville with two side platforms. Arncliffe Station was designed as the first major station on the Illawarra Line southwards from Sydney and was one of the most substantial stations of the eight built in 1884, reflecting the importance of the locality. A new larger timber overhead booking office was constructed in 1925, and the line through the station to Hurstville was electrified in 1926. The Arncliffe-Bexley tram line closed in 1926. This was completed in September 2016. In May 2015, work commenced on the construction of a pedestrian tunnel below the South Coast line 300 metres north of the station. It opened in October 2016.
