Alamosa East is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Alamosa County, Colorado, United States. The population of the Alamosa East CDP was 1,453 at the 2020 United States census.
72.3% of residents lived in urban areas, while 27.7% lived in rural areas.
There were 576 households in Alamosa East, of which 29.2% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 46.2% were married-couple households, 21.0% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 26.4% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 28.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. of 2000, there were 1,528 people, 556 households, and 404 families residing in the CDP. The racial makeup of the CDP was 59.95% White, 0.46% African American, 2.68% Native American, 0.92% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 30.37% from other races, and 5.56% from two or more races. There were 556 households, out of which 38.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% were married couples living together, 10.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 21.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.23.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 30.1% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.5 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $27,176, and the median income for a family was $32,593. Males had a median income of $26,250 versus $18,462 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $10,948.
